Description

I helped my friend, a long time console player build a PC that he can later upgrade as funds allow. Myself and another friend donated some parts we had laying around to get him going.

The R7 2700X went on sale for $129 with a $30 motherboard bundle at Microcenter. Luckily, we live next to one and this incredible deal forced our hands to start building. He purchased the 2700x, motherboard, RAM, storage, and case. I supplied the PSU and GPU and another friend hooked him up with a monitor.

He's never build a PC before, so he let me do a lot of the leg work and helped as much as he wanted. I tried to be thorough and explained what I was doing as the build progressed as well as answered questions. Overall I think it turned out great, I think he learned things along the way, and this rig should last him for years to come.

GPU is next on the list to upgrade to utilize the monitor to its full potential (likely going with a 2070 Super).
